BAD HABITS… the thought of the day!
These buggers can REALLY sneak up on you. Do you know that it takes 3 weeks for an act to become a habit!
Try doing something for a few years and then trying to change it! Your neural path ways actually adapt to the way you do things and once your body and brain associate something with a certain act the habit usually follows.
When you see certain people and always drink with them your brain actually associates seeing them with a dopamine high which in turn creates the need to replicate the previous encounters… say what????
I have always thought of myself as a free thinker but I am actually an absolute creature of habit and some of these NEED TO CHANGE!
I need to swop out mid-week drinks with gym,gym and some more gym.
Weekend parties with gym, gym and something different.
Week days I also tend to eat my feelings- so bad day= eternal bad diet so replace this with healthy eating and another dose of gym.
All of the above drains my system, makes my unhealthy and I look like a ZOMBIE, what’s worse I am starting to feel like one!
So apparently I have the power to change all of this by re-setting my brain…what it will take is purposely breaking the ingrained habits with new ones- obviously you need to push through the GREAT discomfort as your body and brain SCREAM ‘what the hell are you doing?’
But in the end it will be worth it I guess- I am more interested in the concept of whether or not this can in fact be done! I have done certain things without fail for so long could I change?
I have given up the infamous F word for lent and today only slipped twice I think! I am pretty proud of that I am not going to lie- I did FAIL epically at the no sugar and junk though!
So Lent has become a 2 goal show with no swearing or drinking!
I am now actively going to try and re-set myself and habits and watch as my life changes course…watch this little ha-bitch-ual go!
