Today’s theme is time and debunking the myth that if you haven’t made it big at 30 you won’t.
I believe that your 20’s are when you are free to screw around, make mistakes, party your ass off, learn, fail and find yourself. Better in your 20’s that a breakdown at 40.
The problem is as you get older you start to give up on your dreams because you are told that at 30 you are half way dead. I call BULLSHIT on this one!
Do you know how many people only became successful in their 30’s?
John Hamm (Mad Men) waited tables until he was 29 because no one would hire him- at age 36 he hit it big as Don Draper in Mad Men… makes you think!
Vera Wang only started designing wedding dresses at the age of 40! Look at her now!
Janna Fischer was 31 when she starred as Pam in The Office.
Julia Child was 36 when she moved to Paris and was published by the age of 50! Proving you don’t ever give up!
My personal favourite is Amy Poehler (I am currently reading her book YES PLEASE), made it at 31 on SNL and now at 41 is famous! She is my personal inspiration as is her bestie Tina Fey who really made a splash at as 43 in 30 Rock.
J.K. Rowling… age 32 published Harry Potter and is now the 12th richest woman in the UK- I best get busy finishing my own novel!
Alan Rickman who acted in Harry Potter made it at age 36!
Leonard Cohen was in his 30’s when he released his first album!
And the person I want to be most when I grow up… Kelly Oxford!!!!!!!!
36 years old and the one of the most influence bloggers in the world! She is my hero!!!!!
Her book ‘Everything is Perfect When You’re a Liar’ is AMAZING- do yourself a favour and read it, it will change the way you see yourself and the world.
Whenever I hit a rut or feel despondent I read the bios of these incredible people and remind myself that it doesn’t matter when it happens- it will happen as long as you never give up!
