When I was in my early 20’s I went to see The Offspring live with a boyfriend and some friends in Cape Town. I remember one thought stood out from the experience, how alone I felt. Standing in the middle of thousands of people and feeling nothing but alone! It was horrible and haunting BUT I had an AHA moment last night… in the midst of jamming to Phillip Phillips and The Script I had this realization, I remembered that night, I remembered how I felt and then knew that last night I felt alive, present, I wasn’t alone I was part of this energy, this moment. I was creating a memory that would last a lifetime. At that moment thousands of people were connected, all one-voice…music is truly powerful in that way!
The AHA moment comes from the fact that every crappy experience we have, every trial, mistake or heartbreak breeds a better tomorrow or a stronger you. I am grateful today for every mistake made in my past because I can truly say I know who I am today. To be present in your life is amazing and something I don’t think many of us really acknowledge or are aware of. The Buddhists do it best… they appreciate the now and the magic of living in the moment. Last night was truly amazing and I now feel more motivated than ever to make every day count and to find that magical moment in every day that goes by.
